Italian restaurants, sub shops, calzone counters and Italian delis sit next to the pizzerias on this site because most of them bake pizza too, often from the same dough. Full-service Italian restaurants take reservations for dinner, add a tip line for table service (15-20% is customary) and usually run a cheaper lunch menu on weekdays. Sub and sandwich shops are counter-order and quick, with sizes by the inch or in half and whole lengths. Calzones and strombolis are priced like a medium pizza and are large enough to share. Italian delis and bakeries sell by weight and by the piece, and many close mid-afternoon.
Hours are published for 5 days a week. Typical hours are 5β10 pm. It is closed on Tuesday, Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (585) 454-3510. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is rocandrell.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Rochester is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Rochester peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

We made a reservation and got seated pretty quickly. The inside was pretty small but felt cozy. The staff were friendly and attentive. They took our order quickly. We for sautΓ©ed greens and arancini for appetizers, and clam pasta and mushroom truffle pizza as main. The food came out fast. Everything was made fresh and was well seasoned. My favorite dish would be the pizza. The crust was chewy yet didnβt feel too dense or heavy. The white sauce worked well with the mushrooms. The portion was relatively small compared to other Italian places I have been to. And with two apps and two main, it was about $50 pp not including tips. I like that it felt like high quality home cooked food but the price felt more like a fancy Italian restaurant. If the price was better or the portion was larger, I would come back more often.

Iβm really disappointed to see what was once one of my favorite restaurants fall so far short. My boyfriend and I visited last Saturday with reservations, and I had spoken so highly of this place based on past experiences. Unfortunately, this visit was a completely different story. The food was extremely underwhelming. I ordered the lamb chops, which were overcooked and lacked any real seasoning. My boyfriend had the crispy fish, which was slightly better, but still not impressiveβhe even commented that heβs had comparable fish from Arthur Treacherβs. The service issues seemed to stem from understaffing rather than the quality of our server. Our waitress was very kind, but there appeared to be only two servers working on a Saturday evening, which clearly impacted the overall experience. To make matters worse, our bill was over $100 for just two entrΓ©es and one shared beer. While we didnβt take it out on our waitress, the value simply didnβt match the experience. Itβs genuinely disappointing to see such a decline in what used to be a standout dining spot.

Out of town on business and staying about a block away, so we decided to give this place a try after spotting it on a morning walk. Absolutely amazing. Some of the best Italian food Iβve had in a long time. Sorry, no pictures β we dove right in. My wife had the short spaghetti and meatballs, and I had the chicken breast over potatoes. Both were fantastic. Weβll definitely be back next time weβre in town

What a gem on Monroe Ave! This small, cozy Italian restaurant delivered a wonderful experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service was attentive and genuinely welcoming all evening. We started with the mushroom soup β rich yet light, with deep earthy flavor that didnβt feel heavy. The arancini were perfectly crisp on the outside and creamy inside, served with just the right amount of marinara. The grilled octopus was tender with a beautiful char and bright, fresh flavor. The seafood fra diavolo with crab and calamari was outstanding β bold, with a perfect kick balanced with fresh seafood flavor. We finished with the butterscotch budino, which was silky and decadent. The nutty topping added the perfect texture and contrast, making every bite even better. From beginning to end, both the food and service were exceptional. A true standout on Monroe Ave β weβll absolutely be back.

The appetizer was the standout at this restaurant, truly the only highlight. The pizza was average, and the lasagna was disappointing with no meat. The service was exceptional, and the table setup was charming, with a nice brick wall as a backdrop. However, the atmosphere was overwhelmingβtables were packed too tightly, so you could hear every conversation around you. The loud, chaotic vibe made it unbearable. This isnβt a place Iβd return to for a date. We ended up getting a much tastier pizza elsewhere, and the high prices here didnβt match the food or ambiance.
